The answer to this depends on many factors – your website design, the age of your domain name, how regular you update your website, the competitive nature of your market and many more.

Important questions you should consider are;

• How is anyone going to find your website?
• Why should anyone visit or return to your website?
• What makes your website unique?

The most important factor to think about is ”content“.

We do our best to setup websites which adhere to Web Standards.  We also use established techniques to allow the search engines to easily access and read the content.

If however the content is sparse and stagnant then over time search engines like Google and Bing will note this and your ranking scores will fall, which means people searching for your services may not find your pages.

Introduce a Blog or News Section

Introducing a “Blog” or “Latest News” section on your website can help keep your site fresh.  It also lets your clients keep in touch with your business, giving them a reason to revisit your site.  You can also link these regular updates using Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Our advice is to;

• regularly add relevant content to your website
• ensure that all content is up to date
• make use of analysis reports to see what website pages are popular
• review site use with your web administrator

When managing your own site remember to keep the content fresh.  It will pay in the long term.

To start off we helped choose the name “Classic Crockery Hire” as the domain name.  Having the keywords of your business within the domain name is always a plus point when it comes to being found online.

The main website requirements were to;

• ability to update the website
• highlight the ever changing stock of crockery pieces
• show the services offered
• rank well in the search engines

Time will tell how the search engine ranking goes but with our advice and website setup the site should start to perform well locally over the next few months.

The proper labelling of images and regular update of the website content will also improve search engine rank results.

Our example site is based on a simple theme.   We can create a unique site just for your business.

Here at our underground bunker we are in the middle of changing our own website. Over the next few weeks we’ll be introducing new bits and bobs to our pages.

The plan is to introduce a better portfolio browser and some social site integration too as we  regularly use Twitter and Facebook.

Good advice that we regularly dish out is keeping the site content fresh. It’s easy to say but sometimes easy to forget but our plan is to be more strict. So expect some up to date relevant content, and probably some not so relevant content too on the blog.

Lastly, we’ll also be introducing our online support pages and ticketing system which will be a first point of contact for our existing clients.

Sounds like a lot of work! I better get on with it.
